I also watched it a few nights ago. You're right it's kinda lame compared to movies now, but I can still enjoy it and it was bad ass back in 1987.

The dvd I have has a special feature about making it and they talk about how they had to use stop motion for the larger robot,forget its name.Any way I still love Robo.
